At BCFO, we strive to share ways to reduce your risk of breast cancer, teach the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, and spread the word that breast cancer can affect all ages. At community events, panel discussions, and health fairs, we explain the facts and disprove the myths of breast cancer.

Resources Library

BCFO offers resources through our learning library to give the community access to printed breast cancer information.  BCFO’s collection of books, CDs and other materials are available for checkout and cover a broad range of topics related to breast cancer.  Stop by and peruse our collection!

Community Education

BCFO reaches out to the communities it serves through breast cancer education and awareness initiatives. Through panel discussions, speaking engagements, health fairs and web-based resources, BCFO works to share both the facts and the myths about breast cancer. BCFO spreads the word that breast cancer affects all ages. Please contact Jill Gold at 417-862-3838 for more information.

Helpful iphone App, Avva Advocate

Avva Advocate (www.avvahealth.com) is the first comprehensive breast health iPhone app. If you’ve been recently diagnosed with breast cancer, Avva is here to help. It will guide you through treatment, helping you prepare for doctor’s visits. Avva Advocate will assist you in making a list of questions for your doctor by showing you suggested questions that other patients in your same situation often ask. The list can then be printed and brought into the visit, or accessed on the iPhone to save answers or record audio during the visit. All of your important information from each visit will be stored on your phone, so you can access it again anytime. In addition, any woman following a mammogram screening schedule can use the app to keep track of mammograms and receive regular reminders. It’s free, simple and easy to use, and takes less than a minute to set up.
